Probably the largest site in Suffolk, Pole Hill is on the Foxhall road opposite the town dump. Old maps show this was part of a cluster of barrows, but these did not survive 20th century arable farming practices. This site was probably spared the plough because of its size and because it is next to the road so it wouldn't be in the way as much as the others in the middle of fields. This photo doesn't do it justice as the vegetation was chest-high, obscuring the skirts of the site.
