This Dolmen is locally known as Bedd Taliesin. In 1781 one Henry P Wyndham observed [37] in A Gentleman's Tour through Monmouthshire and Wales the spurious sepulchre of the Bard Taliesin, who flourished in the 6th century and one which stood near the highway, has, within these five years, been entirely plundered and the broken stones are now converted into gateposts
